VELAA PRIVATE ISLAND
This unique destination was developed to embody the very best of this unique archipelago, bathed by azure skies in the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. The name of this private retreat, an elegant fusion of Maldivian culture with contemporary luxury, means “Turtle Island” in the local language – named after generations of sea turtles that have flocked here to nest and hatch.
The resort design borrows from this theme, with turtle motifs, and the colors and patterns of turtle shell pervading the property. From a broader “bird’s eye view” which greets arrivals by seaplane, the island’s exclusive over-water villas are also constructed to resemble the head of a turtle, with the island forming the body. Velaa Private Island Maldives also ensures plenty of room for its marine visitors, with a hatchery and conservation plan in place.
Velaa Private Island is just under 20 hectares in size, around half a kilometre in either direction, providing both exclusivity and privacy.
Velaa shares its name and its home with the generations of sea turtles that have inhabited the island for countless years. The colours and patterns of a turtle shell make up subtle nuances in the design, while from a broader aerial view, Velaa’s exclusive over-water villas resemble the head of a turtle with the island forming the body. Designed by Czech architect Petr Kolar, the overall design concept is contemporary, yet intimate, with Maldivian nuances.

PROIVATE CHARTER - TRASNFER
Velaa Private Island provides its lcients their luxurious Velaa branded seaplane (9 seats) at the rate of USD 10,293 per way including 10% service charge and 12% TGST to ensure a smooth and comfortable flight. The aircraft is fitted with the finest leather. The Velaa branded seaplane is only available for private charter flights and arrival and departure timing must be provided for us to check the availability of the aircraft at the earliest convienience. If this Velaa private seaplane transfer option is chosen, guests will experience minimal waiting time at our private lounge prior to the direct 45 minute flight to Velaa Private Island. If this is not of your choice of transfer, there are combined transfer options available in commercial seaplanes.
Please find below transfer options for guests arriving via Velana International airport, Malé. For guests travelling to Velaa Private Island via Maafaru International Airport, we are happy to provide customised transfer options suitable to guests needs and preferences.
Due to the aviation restriction in Maldives, seaplane aircrafts are operated only during daylight between 6 AM to 5 PM. Guests arriving after 3.30 PM or departing before 9 AM are required to stay overnight in Male’ city before and after the international flight.

For guests who would prefer to travel by sea, we are pleased to offer a private transfer on our luxury yacht Rania, directly from Velana International Airport, Malé. You may either choose a direct transfer to the resort or the journey can be tailor-made inclusive of excursions to untouched reefs along the way, where guests may enjoy swimming and snorkelling prior to arrival. A direct transfer will take approximately 4-5 hours where snacks and refreshments will be served on board. The yacht is equipped with both bedrooms and washrooms and a maximum of 8 guests can be accommodated with luggage. The yacht transfer is available at USD 14,784 per way including 10% service charge and 12% TGST, and is subject to availability.
